Canoes

Although our canoes always stand out in a crowd and have won several major awards since 1993, our basic hull construction process is not unique to us. When forming the hull, we utilize a building method called "strip construction". These boats are commonly called strippers. Basic strip construction involves edge gluing 60-70 long thin strips of wood together over a boat shaped male mold. When the stripping is complete the canoe is sanded, covered with a sheet of fiberglass cloth, and sealed to the wood with M.A.S. Epoxy. After curing, the hull is removed from the mold, the inside sanded, and fiberglass applied. This completes the hull. Like an artist eyeing a new canvass, we view the empty hull as a foundation on which we can reveal our true talents-the wood trim. At Wood Song Canoes, we have at least one model of canoe that will be right for you. With 18 solos and 23 tandems to choose from, and 2 different trim packages and with many wood species to select from, your most diffucult task will be narrowing the field to one. We know our boats and we know people. We will help you decide which boat is right for you. Please order our package of information for a thorough explaination of all our models, options, and pricing.
